Silver Stage Branch Library Programs

Reading Programs

The Adaptation Film Festival will be ongoing through June, 2011 at all five branch libraries, which includes promoting certain book titles, holding a book discussion and then screening the movie adapted from the book.  Call your local library for details and event dates.  This program is a part of an LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and in partnership with the Nevada State Library and Archives.

Children’s Story Time

Storytime is on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, at 1:30 p.m. Parents should please call or come in and sign up first, as space is limited to 10 children.

Other Projects
Silver Stage Library is partnering with the Silver Stage Task Force in their efforts to help military families. One of our ongoing outreach efforts is to be very visible at the monthly brunches held at the Senior Center for veterans and their families. “I didn’t know you had all this stuff,” said one regular but exclusively fiction-reading library patron as he perused our display of materials, which included titles like “ASVAB for Dummies,” “A Veteran’s Guide to Benefits” and “Teach Yourself Gulf Arabic.” Our goal is to make certain that local veterans and their families realize that we are here as a resource to improve their lives, with materials that range from books on how to survive boot camp to others dealing with re-entry into civilian life.

We have a booth at the annual Wellness Fair at the Silver Stage High School on May 7 and will also be holding our big spring Book Sale at the Library the same date, a "Buck a Bag," a dollar for all the books you can stuff into a bag, no limit!  All proceeds benefit our Summer Reading Program.

In May 2011, we will be working with Blue Ribbon Mothers to send boxes of books to Nevada troops overseas.   Please check with the Silver Stage Library about donations of either books or funds to help with shipping costs.
