Lyon County 2024 Primary Election Update

Yerington, Nevada – Lyon County Clerk Treasurer Staci Lindberg, by and through Lyon County District Attorney Stephen B. Rye, filed a court action in the Third Judicial District Court on Thursday, May 23, 2024 seeking authorization to allow the Lyon County Clerk to:

·       Correct the ballots for the 2024 Lyon County Primary Election for the Fernley City Council Ward 5 and the Stagecoach General Improvement District Trustees and;

·       To conduct a Special Primary Election for those two races.

The Lyon County Clerk has requested that an expedited hearing be scheduled for the District Court to consider the Clerk's requests.  A hearing date has not yet been scheduled.

The 2024 Lyon County Primary Election is proceeding as required for all races and the error will not affect any other candidates or races within Lyon County.  Early voting and mail-in ballots are underway. Election Day is June 11, 2024.  Polling locations for early voting and Election Day, and drop off locations for mail ballots are available on the elections page of the Lyon County website.

 

Initial Statement Released May 22, 2024:

Yerington, Nevada – Lyon County and the Nevada Secretary of State are aware of the error on the 2024 Lyon County primary ballot regarding the number of candidates to vote for in the Fernley City Council Ward 5 and the Stagecoach General Improvement District Trustees races. Lyon County and the Secretary of State's Office are working through these issues and will have additional information for the candidates and voters by the end of this week.

Lyon County and the Secretary of State's Office want to assure voters that this does not impact the remaining items on the ballot for the 2024 primary election.
