Canal Township Justice Court
**NOTICE: Changes to operations due to the ongoing COVID-19 emergency.
The Canal Township Justice Court takes the health and welfare of its patrons seriously. In light of the national, state, and local declarations of emergency, all public areas of the court have been closed until further notice to avoid high-risk crowding and to implement social distancing.
Public entry is only being allowed for essential hearings. If you wish to appear by alternative means please contact the court one day prior to your scheduled appearance to make the appropriate arrangements. Court staff will be working during normal business hours and are available to answer questions.
Many court hearings scheduled between March 18, 2020 and April 30, 2020 have been rescheduled. If you are unsure about whether your hearing has been rescheduled please contact the court at 775-575-3355.
You may view the Administrative Orders issued by all Justice Courts in Lyon County by going to these links.
These will cover business activities of the courts including Evictions, Small Claims and other types of proceedings.

All payments for fines and fees can be processed online at: www.govpaynow.com. The Court’s PLC number is A0036L.Individuals who need to file documents can do so by utilizing the courts email address which is FJC@lyon-county.org or facsimile at 775-575-3359.
Court forms are located on the Lyon County website at: https://www.lyon-county.org/DocumentCenter. Select the “Courts” tab and then choose the “Fernley (Canal) Justice Court” tab.

The Canal Township Justice Court oversees matters relating to:Criminal CasesMisdemeanors, Gross Misdemeanors, Felonies. Civil CasesSmall Claims Actions (up to $10,000), Evictions, General Civil Actions (up to $15,000), Temporary Protective Orders, Stalking, and Harassment Orders.Traffic IssuesCitations (traffic violations).
