Inmate Mail Service

  • Postal services are provided Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
  • Inmates may be mailed magazines, newspapers, or soft cover books; however, these items must come directly from the publisher or a widely accepted distributor.
  • Inmates may not receive any mail, books, or magazines showing explicit sexual conduct or content.
  • All mail is subject to search. Mail is not read except in the course of an investigation.
  • The Lyon County Jail only accepts 4.25" x 6" plain white postcards (professionally manufactured, not homemade.) Postcards must not contain drawings, nudity, explicit content, or references to weapons or gangs.  Postcards must not contain glue, glitter, stickers, watermarks, stains, embossing, or any other foreign substances.
  • Inmates cannot receive any item that is available through the facility commissary.
